Harbor of Hope: Discipleship and Community for Women Battling Addiction

More than 93,000 Americans died of a drug overdose in 2020, a rise of almost 30% from 2019. This is the highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded in a twelve-month period, and the largest increase since 1999. Drug overdoses in the CSRA have grown over 250% in the last 5 years, with the covid-19 pandemic further increasing both overdoses and suicides. While addiction impacts both genders, women in the CSRA are battling drug and alcohol addiction at an alarming rate, in conjunction with trauma, mental illness, and absence of healthy coping skills for feelings of stress, isolation and anxiety.

Join us as the Day By Day team embarks on a new journey in response to this critical need – Harbor of Hope. Harbor of Hope is a new, one-year (12-month) residential discipleship and rehabilitation program for women. Participants will live with others facing addiction and become a community of people who are leaving the patterns of this world, living by the power of His Word, and learning the ways of God. Through accountability, grace, and instruction, participants will be transformed together in mind, body, and soul to experience God’s goodness and mercy. By fleeing from the addictions of this world and clinging to God and his Word, we hope to welcome women to a life of hope and reliance on God’s goodness.

In order for Harbor of Hope to become a reality, Day By Day is seeking sponsors and financial supporters. To learn more about donating to Harbor of Hope or to ask questions about the program, call 1-803-270-8376. We believe your time and financial support will have a long-term impact.

After the inaugural year of Harbor of Hope, we anticipate a first graduating class of six women who will have completed the comprehensive, Christ-created program. Participants of Harbor of Hope will have the support of the Day By Day team, who will help them secure a job and housing by the time they leave the program. Upon completing the program, participants will have twelve months of sobriety completed and will be armed with the coping skills necessary to continue living sober. Looking to the future, we hope to have a strong community of alumni who are continuing to live sober and growing in their relationship with God while living out His purposes for them.

Day By Day believes that both men and women are made in the image of God with a specific value and purpose that He has intended for them. We believe that freedom from addiction is possible only by the grace of God who works by the power of His Spirit in those who surrender to Him. We believe that genuine discipling relationships are the biblical way to assist people in the transformation of their lives by the renewal of their minds.
