Observation

Baseball legend, Yogi Berra, once said: “When you come to a fork in the road take it.” Sometimes I feel that way. Never knowing where to go or where to turn. Yogi also said, “If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.”

Confused? Yogi’s sayings had so much truth embedded in them that you had to read them more than one time to grasp where his thoughts were.

Here is a truth that my mother taught me: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

If there was a way that this verse could penetrate the hearts of those suffering from substance abuse, the way out of addiction would begin with direction. The forks in the road would no longer be a problem.

Once an addict understands, clearly understands, where they are going in their recovery journey, the journey will end right there when they arrive. Ponder on this.
